Reverse the Pattern to Reduce the Pain

New mic, who dis?!?

Still working out the kinks but man do I love me some gadgets. Anyway, today’s video is all about a concept that my mentor @stopchasingpain first put me onto, and something that I’ve found to be extremely helpful as it relates to rehab, and just movement in general.

Less focus on moving the thing, and more focus on moving the other stuff around the thing. You’d be amazed at what it can do for ya.

I’m by no means saying that this will fix you or that it’s a better way to go about strengthening, not at all. BUT, it is an EXCELLENT technique for those who have been dealing with painful movement and seem to be stuck in that pattern. Remember, pain is an output from the brain, not an input. As such, one of the things that we can do to help mitigate and mange pain is work on creating new neural pathways in which that same movement is no longer associated with fear and/or a painful sensation.

What do I mean? Hurts to lift the arm? Ok, well let’s keep the arm there and lower the body. Suddenly you find yourself in a position with your arm ‘lifted’ and you are working on creating a new neural pathway in which having your arm lifted DOES NOT hurt. Pretty cool 💩 if you ask me.

So, take this concept, apply it to any body part or movement that you’d like, and lemme know how it goes. As always, 3 sets of 1 million.
