DM #70: Takin a break tonight from the biomechanics and fancy science stuff. Met with a new friend today and was reminded of something that my mentor @stopchasingpain always says, ”It’s ALWAYS new to someone.” When I first considered starting a website and doing some blogging, my first thought was, “Who would want to read this? I’m sure they’ve heard it before.” I let that thought hold me back for a little bit, and then basically said F that noise. In reality, there’s nothing NEW out there; just different takes on old ideas. And furthermore, just because I knew something didn’t mean that Suzy Liftsalot knew that same thing. Furthermore, after reading tons of blogs and posts, I came to realize that sometimes it wasn’t always the specific topic that made the post great, but that author’s interpretation and explanation of things. Two people can explain the same thing in two very different ways, and both be 100% correct.
My point is, share your knowledge, share the wealth. While the content may seem rudimentary to you, that’s likely because you surround yourself with it day in and day out. I guarantee you that it’s new to someone. Hell, it’s likely new to a buttload of people. It doesn’t have to be novel to be profound. It doesn’t have to be ground-breaking to have a huge impact. It’s ALWAYS new to someone.
