DM #76: The nervous system ALWAYS wants to feel safe. If at any point there's a chance you could get hurt, that CNS of yours is gonna hit the brakes real quick.
Visualization techniques aren't just some fru-fru concept created to help you pass the time. In visualizing a movement, you help ready the system for what is about to come. Decreasing the perceived threat of any activity means that your nervous system is that much more likely to give you green light.
Remember, the nervous system is king; it GRANTS us mobility and it GRANTS us strength. A primed nervous system fires better, recruits motor units better, and sends signals that much faster. So if you want a PR, you'd better make sure that you're working WITH it, not just going out there and hoping for the best.
