DM #108: Universally applicable quote right here. Just going to stick to what I know best and not get all philosophical with you.
This is a concept that I try to stress to my patients as they are recovering from injury. People always want to know if they will be the same afterwards, or if there may be any sort of lingering effects. The fact of the matter is, while tissues do heal, they are now different, which means there may or may not be the exact same functionality afterwards. And that is ok.
We must seek to optimize functionality following injury, but we must not forget that the injury occurred in the first place. However, we must not harp on the fact that the injury occurred, but rather, celebrate the freedom we have once functionality is restored.
