MOTM #252: State of the Union: Online Yoga with Carrie Owerko

Monday, November 2nd, 2020

This episode is really, really special. As you know, with my State of the Union series I wanted to see how different businesses and friends of mine are faring since COVID, but I also wanted to provide hope, and today’s guest does just that.

Carrie Owenko is a lot of things. She’s an innovator who leads from the front, and like all of my guests, she is an expert at doing the thing. Instead of allowing COVID shutdowns to end her teaching career, Carrie created her own online yoga platform.

That’s what I admire about Carrie; she knows that in order for change to happen, YOU have to be the catalyst, no matter how hard it might feel. Owning a business means you have to become an expert at improvisation. Say YES to the difficulties and the challenges that may come your way, and something even greater will come.

In This Episode You'll Hear:

  • Who is Carrie?
  • Studying dance and movement in theater
  • The science of integration
  • Sacrifice for a sense of belonging
  • Carrie’s business and travel before COVID
  • Doing the thing before you’re “ready”
  • What teaching looks like then and now
  • Pivoting to online content and creation
  • The future of the yoga industry
  • Self-directed change and learning
  • Improvisation: saying “yes, and”
  • Taking time to just be
