DM #241: We’re all in this TOGETHER. DPT students in particular, I want you to listen up. There is NOTHING wrong with specializing. There is NOTHING wrong with being a master of one instead of a jack of all trades. Create the largest network of skilled providers that you can, and share the wealth.
Find good acupuncturists, nutritionists, yoga instructors, pilates instructors, personal trainers, crossfit coaches, S&C coaches, massage therapists, psychotherapists, athletic trainers, and create a network. Interact with and exchange ideas with other PTs and chiros who have a penchant for certain body parts, a mastery of certain phases of that health-fitness continuum, or simply different approaches to treatment. Learn from them, refer out to them, and realize that there is no limit on abundance.
I know my strengths, I play to them, I treat accordingly, and I refer out for the rest. There is absolutely no shame in your patient/client seeing more than one provider. Heck, with the right network it’ll make your life easier.
