DM #84: I believe this is my first DM about running, and as such it only made sense that I quoted the person I trust the most when it comes to this topic.
I'm much more built for running than I am for lifting heavy things, which has made this form of locomotion something that always interested me. I was fortunate enough to receive training as a young kid, along with some instruction about proper technique. That just isn't the case for most people. Despite the ridiculous complexity of running, folks assume that since they can physically run, that they must be doing it right. WRONG!

There is a reason that something like 90% of runners get hurt at some point in their “careers”. They don't know what the hell they're doing. We may be “Born to Run”, but we need to treat learning how to run just like we treat learning how to drive a car, learning how to Olympic lift, or learning any other high level skill: formal training with guided instruction.
Performing any movement with crappy technique and simply trying to go harder, longer, or faster is pretty much just a great way to get injured. Remember, more is not better, better is better. Check out @amucurio's page for some occasional (don't worry, I'm on his butt to start posting more) running vids and knowledge bombs. Your mile time will thank you.
