DM #655: I swear if I see one more of those ❌✅ posts…
—
I try to stay pretty neutral with with social media content, but I find posts like those to often times be more fear-inducing than educational. Honestly, there’s no one right way to perform a movement. Intention drives efficacy and appropriateness, and as such, it’s virtually impossible to capture and convey all of that with an X and a check mark.

@hunterfitness, @strongcamp, and @atxphysicaltherapy are some of my favorite accounts to follow, not just because of the dry sense of humor, but because of the promotion of movement variability and the shared disdain for thought processes that try to put movement in a box.
—
Might there be more ideal ways to perform certain movements? Sure. Is there often times a whole bunch of wiggle room and as it relates to training should we be exploring end-ranges and making our tissues more resilient? Absolutely.

So, less of this: ❌✅, and more of this: 🏃🏾♀️🤙🏾 👊🏽🤸🏼♀️🙌🏾 🤹🏻♂️👏🏻 🧘🏽♀️🤟🏿🧗🏿♀️🤛🏻🏂👍🏾🏋🏻♂️✊🏽🤼♀️🤘🏻🏌🏼♂️.
