DM #322: Sunday = Rest day. A time to work on mobility, get out of the gym, relax, and just enjoy life…aka look at memes on Instagram all day. ?

I've always been a fan of working smarter, not harder, and when it comes to training, I still believe in following this mantra. I recently started following @comptrainmasters (still a few years away from being a masters but the programming is sooooo good) and it's been nothing short of great. Why? Because more is not better, better is better.

If you're not getting the results you want, figure out WHY. Don't just do more of the same thing. Now, I absolutely love the feeling of being sore after a hard workout. But there's a HUGE difference between that and feeling injured and broken down each and every day. We grow when we rest. If you never feel rested, if you can never recover, you can't grow.

Yes, there are instances where training for a specific event may take you right to the edge, but clearly this shouldn't be a regular occurrence, and honestly, it's just not physically sustainable.

So, champion the fight. Find value in the struggle. Put in the work. Just remember that feeling like shit all the time is not a badge of honor. It just means that you feel like shit all the time. —
