DM #94: The human body is absolutely remarkable in its resiliency. Because of this we can live in a state of dysfunction with tons of compensatory strategies in place for YEARS on end before we start to experience pain, and subsequently start looking at our movement patterns.
Barring acute direct localized trauma, most pain will seem to appear suddenly, out of the blue, when it fact it's been building up for years, but you were able to compensate your way through things. The day that pain showed up is simply the day that your compensations rain out. Because of this, most pain can take quite some time to resolve because the dysfunctional patterns that led to it have been in place for a tremendous amount of time.

Often times it is not until we experience pain that we take a step back and analyze the quality of our movement. We live in a reactionary society, a deal-with-it-after-the-fact kind of society. One in which we use pain, or the absence of pain, to judge our performance.
The best and fastest way to get rid of pain is to never have it in the first place. One thing that we can do to help this is to get our movement assessed by a professional, and to actually pay attention to the quality of our movement, not just when working out, but throughout the entirety of our day. Do your knees collapse in when you sit down to a chair? Does your foot collapse in when you go up and down the stairs? Are you able to properly hip hinge to bend forward to brush your teeth or wash your face?

We are quick to blame faulty movement patterns when we start experiencing pain, but a better approach would be to look for and improve these faulty patterns before pain sets in.
Start focusing on how well you move, instead of how much weight you move, or how fast you can move it. Because the fact of the matter is, if you wait for pain to set in before you assess and address, you've waited too long.
