Working on closed chain hip rotation as part of my rehab for my busted hip. The first part of the video demonstrates how introducing flexion at my hip (squatting down) allows me to gain more rotation as I take some of the tension out of the system. I have my left knee bent because I'm trying to focus on my Right (injured/involved hip). I'm all about bottom-up training, or holding a pose while moving from positions with less difficulty and postural demands into positions with greater demands. This allows me to work on positions that I wouldn't be able to get into actively.
In the video, I'm “squatting” first to decrease the tension in the system to allow for more global rotation. I then stand once I achieve this maximal rotation, focusing on maintaining this rotation as I enter the position of greater postural and tension-related demands.
Tie this in with irradiation and FRC concepts and you've got yourself a pretty dope drill.
