DM #136: Walking is rolling on two feet. A lesson I learned a while back from my guy, @stopchasingpain.
The ability to properly roll on the ground demonstrates a basic level of ownership of the transverse plane. And yes, there is a right and a “wrong” way. Wanna learn more? Take my course. Anyway, the demands the transverse plane increase as we change positions, so if you don't own it when you're on the ground, there's no way in hell you're owning it when you stand up.
How you sequence rolling while on the ground tells me everything about how you move. It's a staple in my assessment of EVERY patient I see, and a movement that I practice daily. For real.
Got back pain? Lemme see you roll. Got knee pain? Lemme see you roll. Get familiar with the transverse plane or get familiar with your pain.
