DM #145: Dropping this way early tonight because I'll be on a ✈️ back home to Cali when the usual posting time rolls around.
Had a course attendee say this to me today and then immediately saw an iteration of this quote on Instagram from my friend @atxphysicaltherapy, and knew that it had to be tonight's DM.

We are wonderfully complex organisms. Far more than tissue and bones thrown together. The interplay and connection between our nervous system, our fascia, our musculoskeletal system, our viscera, our emotions, our past experiences, and our environment is undeniable and inseparable.
We must remember this when treating dysfunction. Humans are more than inert tissue. It's not as simple as “I fixed that tissue and now you are all better.” Absolutely not. The body remembers. It remembers that time you broke your leg. It remembers that time were scared. The nervous system ALWAYS wants to feel safe and will do whatever it take to ensure that.

Treat the entire human, not just the tissue.
