DM #147: The Devil's tricycle. ? For those of you outside of the functional fitness world and not well-versed with this horrendous contraption, Google it. ?

Anyway, as it relates to tonight's DM, the @Assaultairbike requires that you have a solid trunk against which to move your limbs, otherwise you'll find yourself unable to generate much force through your arms and legs as that noodle of a midsection twists and turns which each pedal and push.
Whether it's running, kicking, throwing, or riding that damn bike, your midsection is used to PREVENT rotation. Our ability to remain solid against these rotational forces allows us to transmit force from our legs/hips to our upper body and vice versa.
The person who performs the best on the Assault bike is the person who can generate the most power. The person who can generate the most power (pound for pound) is the person who can produce the most force (power = [force X distance]/time). The person who produces the most force is the person who is best able to control the rotational force that is imparted to their body by the resistance of the pedals and handles of the Assault bike. Science for the win.
I posted a dope video a while back of my dude @vinster227 riding the assault bike that shows exactly how force is attenuated, stored, and transmitted through the trunk (holy fascia!), so scroll back and see what I mean.
For now, just remember that your ability to use your trunk to control rotational forces will make you more successful on the Assault bike. Try it out for yourself if you dare.
