DM #159: Scooped this one directly from @stopchasingpain's page today so I had to give him a holler.
Pretty simple stuff here, folks. Your body ALWAYS wants to feel safe, and it's going to take the path of least resistance to get there. When we lose stability, we lose safety, and that's a red flag for our nervous system. So, it does whatever it has to do to get that stability back and feel safe. It makes muscles tight, joints stiff, takes away our movement, and sends out pain signals to let us know that something is a threat and we're not safe.
Tightness doesn't just happen for no reason. You don't just lose your mobility for no reason. You don't have pain for no reason. Something is going on, somewhere. And no, I'm not just have to be at the level of the tissue.
Figure out the why before you worry about the how. The how is easy. It's the why that makes all the difference.
