You asked, I answered. When it comes to doing a plank, make sure you're doing it right, or don't even bother doing it at all.
If you're trying to do a plank to strengthen your core and get rid of your back pain then you have to make sure that you're not simply using only your back muscles to maintain that position. Your core is designed to work in an anti-rotation, and anti-extension capacity; that's why planks are so hard. Being in a plank position means that gravity is acting to force your back into more extension, and so you've got to use your core to resist that.
The cue I like to use is bring your pubic bone towards your chin. Some folks like to use cue of dragging the arms back towards the toes. Or brace like you're about to get punched. Feel free to use whatever cue you like. Unless it's “draw your bellybutton towards your spine.” ? Don't use that cue. Abdominal hollowing is so 2000 ?. Just make sure that your low-back doesn't look like a skate ramp and we're all good.
Check it out. Lemme know if you have any questions. And yes, that is my actual brother. Love ya @jden816 ❤️
