DM #204: Get it together, folks! I understand, I’ve been there. We all just want to help people and the whole exchanging money part comes with the territory and is our least favorite part. GET OVER IT.
Your time, your brain, your services are worth whatever you’re charging. In all likelihood, they’re worth way more than you’re charging. But I’m not here to tell you what you’re fees should be, just that you shouldn’t feel bad charging them.
Please stop giving people ‘discounts’ for seeing you for longer, or trying to ‘cut them a break’ because their complex issues require more of your time. That just doesn’t make sense.
You are worth whatever it is that you are charging. Stop feeling bad about it. Physical therapy tends to draw people into the field who simply want to help, who want to feel safe in their job, and honestly, most folks aren’t looking to become millionaires. And that’s a good thing. But you got bills too, and that degree hanging on your wall means something.
So, (particularly my female readers) stop feeling bad charging people for your time. And while you’re at it, consider raising your prices. ?
