DM #215: For the hundredth time, we’re all in this together.
One thing that will immediately ruin a continuing education course for me is when the instructor puts down other methodologies or treatment strategies. Unless something is explicitly causing harm to someone, there is no need to go around bashing a treatment.
Social media is filled with folks claiming that their way is the best or that some other way is far inferior. What’s the need? Whether or not you personally believe in a treatment, if folks are out there using it and getting better, then there’s something to it. The question you should be asking yourself is what exactly that SOMETHING is. I’d bet that if you dug deep enough and had enough constructive conversations you’d find a whole lot more similarities than differences. Hint: the nervous system is king and the placebo is anything but (@joelavapt thanks for that)
In my opinion it’s all just a kaleidoscope of thoughts and ideas. What each person presents to you is simply their take on things; what they’re seeing after they’ve turned the kaleidoscope lens.
So, my point? We’re all in this together and we’re all doing pretty much the same thing. Spend more time making yourself listening to and making yourself relevant to patients, and less time bashing your counterparts. I will personally thank you.
