DM #237: Disclaimer: I love CrossFit. This post is by no means a dig on CrossFit. ?

In all likelihood, if you're reading this post, you're not going to win the Games. Not because you're not good at CrossFit, but unless you're Ben, Katrin or someone of that caliber…you ain't gonna win. And if you are Ben or Katrin, holy smokes, Hi!!!! ?? So, to that end, if you have an injury and you're concerned about your ability to participate in the Open, take a deep breath and let's try to get those priorities in order. I understand the appeal of the Open and the fact that you really, really, really want to do well. I get it. I also know that 6 workouts won't actually make you, but they can certainly break you.
Don't jeopardize your movement career (aka the rest of your life) for a handful of workouts that, in the grand scheme, don't mean anything. Great, you're 957th in the world for your age group…but now you need hip surgery ?

I love that the competition aspect of CrossFit gets people motivated to move, and push themselves, and often times perform things they never thought possible. But please don't confuse fitness and health, and please don't put fitness before your health.
Remember, there's always next year.
