DM #262: Translation: IT'S ALL CONNECTED!

Today's touch your toes with the maestro addition focused on fascial continuity and the fact that doing soft tissue work to help your toe touch should involve more than just rolling out your hamstrings. Why? Because it's all attached. That superficial back line extends from the bottom of your foot, up the back of your body, over your head, and to the top of your eyebrow. Your superficial front line runs the entirety of the front of your body starting at the top of your toes and connecting behind the base of your skull.

While you can make the concept of tensegrity as complex as you like, looking at it from either a microscopic or a macro level, the take-home message remains the same: it's all connected. Imparting a change at one area of the system can and will affect another part of the system. Conversely, injury to one part of the system can and will affect another part of the system. Just another reason why we must absolutely work on scars.

So, tying it all back in to one of my favorite quotes, where you think it is, it ain't. Why? Because it's all connected, and the part that's hurting is usually just the area that's doing the brunt of the work for some other part that's decided to slack off. Goddamn I love this stuff.
