Touch Your Toes with the Maestro Part 9: Wall Peel-off

My boy @joelavapt showed me this bad boy and I knew it had to be added as part of the series.
We've moved to standing up and hopefully you're down there touching your toes, but HOW you do it is just as important whether or not you can do it all.
This drill is works on dissociation and getting us to flex on spinal segment at a time instead of just chunking it all together and getting the motion all from one area (often times the thoracic spine). You're spine is SUPPOSED to bend. If it was meant to be stiff it would look like your femur. ?

I'm not saying to go and try a 1 rep max deadlift like this, but you should absolutely be able to achieve full spinal flexion in an unloaded position.
The key here is to let the all roll down one segment at a time, keeping whatever portion of your spine that is below the ball still touching the wall. Move your feet away from the wall as needed and record yourself so you can see if you're getting segmental movement or just moving at one unit. Contract the abs to help pull you into flexion, and as always, remember to breathe!

Tomorrow night, the last and final part, part 10. Stay tuned!
