DM #289: Procrastination (late with this post because I was rapping with my dude @adamwolfpt ?), a messy room, bad posture…I've just given you an excuse for all of them ??. We are programmed to survive, and survival means conservation of energy and avoiding things that might kill us. Aka efficiency and safety. How does this relate to my daily movement-based spiels? Well, if you want to change your movement, grow your muscles, or increase your mobility, it's going to take WORK. Why? Because #science.
Sitting requires less energy than working. Having muscles is metabolically demanding. Your loss of mobility has typically occurred as a protective mechanism by your nervous system to help impart stability and make it feel safe. After-all, it's much easier to make things tight instead of putting in work.
So, take home message? Muscles, movement, mobility…they take effort. Stop looking for hacks and start putting in work.
