DM #297: Still think that you don't need to work on breathing? ?
Folks go crazy trying to “release” their psoas and QL, both of which can cause low back pain, and both of which attach to the lumbar spine. Do a post about breathing and the trolls come out in full force with questions like “should I also be working on my peristalsis?” ? Don't confuse breathing and respiration. I'm talking about the former. Respiration happens no matter how ?-y your breathing patterns are.
Anyway, if it attaches to it, there's a pattern to it. I'm not telling you to stop treating those other areas (be easssssy, please) but make sure you look at the whole picture and realize the mechanical implications of dysfunctional breathing patterns.
Yes, there is more to rehab than working on breathing. But if you're not working on breathing at all, you're missing the boat. Big time.
