DM #339: Now, I'm sure there are some exceptions to the rule, but I'm not here to debate that. Additionally, I am not here to bash Western medicine or say the surgery is never indicated. Far from it. There are plenty of advances in modern medicine that we must applaud. However, let's call a spade a spade, and realize that more times than not, surgery simply addresses the symptom(s), it does not fix the cause.

Joint replacement? Awesome. But you must figure out why that person needed the joint replacement in the first place. A new joint is not going to magically improve the faulty movement patterns that caused you to wear down that original joint. Same thing goes for spinal fusions (please don't get one of those ?). Noncontact ACL tear? Same thing. You've got yourself a new ACL, but you've still got those same crappy mechanics that caused you to tear it in the first place.

So what's my point? Get the surgery if you need it, but then get the rehab to fix the actual problem. No need to become a repeat offender.
end.
