DM #357: Rest heals tissues, not movement patterns.
—
Tonight's DM inspired by my good, good friend @samgetstronger and her janky shoulder. Yes, we need rest for physiological healing, but unless that thing that you're healing from was a traumatic event, rest isn't going to fix the ?-y what caused you to get injured in the first place.
—
Passive interventions yield passive results. Meaning, rest will allow those tissues to heal, but if you want to fix those movement patterns you gotta be active. You gotta show that nervous system what it's supposed to be doing, grease the groove with repetition, and then repeat, repeat, repeat.
—
Take home message: rest (if needed), heal, then move. The end.
