DM #359: Something I say in all of my @RockTape #RockBlades courses, but it seems pretty fitting for most things in general.

As it relates to IASTM work, there is absolutely NO need to be bruising people up and leaving them all busted. ZERO need. The primary way we are having our effect is via the nervous system, and to that end, scraping someone to death is pretty much just threatening their nervous system and injuring their tissues. Be EASY.

It seems me that this mantra can be applied to pretty much anything (no, social media trolls, this is not an invitation to provide me with a list of exceptions to the rule) be it physical, mental, or emotional. When it doubt, back off, ease into things, and then decide next steps.

Take home message? Respect the tissues, respect the nervous system, respect the situation. Very rarely, if ever, does anything good from something that is forced.
