DM #406: Rob Wilson (@preparetoperform) dropped an absolute bomb of a post a few days ago, and then @powerspeedendurance added this little gem. Couldn't help but think about this as I did my best to not become an awful mouth-breather during today's WOD in Tahoe ?.

I've been following @iamunscared for some time now, and @powerspeedendurance the brand that he runs with @preparetoperform is in my opinion THE leading source for all things breathing and performance. If you have a chance to check out their Art of Breath course, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it.

Anyway, as it relates to this DM, we all know my penchant for breathing as a movement patterns, and as it stands, certain things are better equipped and designed for certain functions. As @preparetoperform wrote:
“The nose has hairs and complex sinuses which have evolved to breathe and is PRIMARILY a part of the respiratory system. The mouth has a tongue and teeth. These are for chewing, the first step in digestion. The mouth is PRIMARILY a digestive mechanism but can be used for breathing. Although both structure and their functions are interrelated they both have a primary function that is made obvious by their structure.” ? ? ?

Work on breathing. Train breathing. Care about breathing. It makes a difference.
