Controlled trauma is still trauma, and while some folks might not want to view surgery in that light, let's call a spade a spade. So, while that controlled trauma may be totally warranted and 100% necessary, our attitudes towards it and actions surrounding it need to reflect our understanding that it's still trauma.

Why do I say this? Not so that you get scared of having surgery, but so that we take the appropriate pre and post-surgical steps…aka prehab, PT, movement re-training, scar work, proper diet, proper rest, etc. You get where I'm going here. It's never JUST surgery. Don't forget that.
