DM #420: An n of 1 can be a HUGELY powerful thing…especially when you are that 1.

Watched the documentary “What the Health?” today (short review: one or two good points but overall a very one-sided vegan/vegetarian agenda with questionable science and oversimplifications of health issues. Upside: depicts the fact that money ALWAYS talks ??♂️) and it became immediately clear yet again that if you want want answers, you gotta look to yourself and do it yourself.

What do I mean? Well, if any of you have watched said documentary you probably left thinking, “Well shit…now I've heard that meat is bad, eggs are bad, dairy is bad…I also heard before that sugar is bad, carbs are bad…everything is going to give me cancer…what do I do?!” My answer? Experiment. In all honesty, the government and big industry (pharma, soda, etc) are already using you for experiments, so you might as well run your own. At least you'll know that you have your best interest at heart.

@timferriss has been doing this for years, and with the advent of wearables and increased ease of blood testing and the like, many individuals are following suit. Am I saying ignore all the studies and write them off as scams? No. Take the data, analyze the ? out of it, check who's funding it and what their angle is, and then experiment to figure out what works best for YOU.

So, my take home message before you all start to think I'm one of those conspiracy theorists: go and find out for yourself. The amount of conflicting info out there is staggering, and if you simply follow what “they” say is best, your results are going to be what's best for “them”.
