DM #463: Dysfunctional positions are positions of strength and safety. ?
—
Your nervous system wouldn't take you somewhere it felt unsafe. Yeah, when your knees collapse in when you squat it's far from pretty, but it's happening for a reason. Your lack of strength/stability/control/mobility is causing you to collapse into less sexy looking positions…but positions where your nervous system feels safe nonetheless.

So, what's my point? Things happen for a reason. Reduce the postural demands. Regress the difficulty of the movement. Break things down into pieces and train each component. When you spend time developing each piece of the puzzle, that nervous system of yours feels safer in those positions (as you get stronger and gain mobility), which means those pretty positions become safe positions. Don't make your nervous system choose between safe and sexy. It IS possible to have both. The end. ?
