DM #469: ??♂️

Gonna do my best to not get salty about this. Now, there's absolutely value in research. I get it. But for the love of donuts and tacos, please stop initiating conversations with “show me the research.” It's always lagging behind what's being done clinically. Lots of red tape, lots of poor study designs, an inability to control for the human factor…lots of reasons why those studies are just ? and don't paint the whole picture. Puhlease don't wait for the research to tell you what you should be doing.

Flip side, the research can show you what's helped other people and what is SAFE to try. In all honesty I think that's the main value of studies: they say “this is safe to try.” If ya want a good study, find those that look to explain HOW something is having its effect, not whether or not it is effective. Big diff.

Ok, gonna cut this off while I'm still being PC ?. Reference the research, but don't forget about your clinical experience and the patient's wants, needs, and expectations. It ALL matters, and honestly, that GOOD literature likely hasn't even been published yet ??♂️.
