DM #484: Stuck is stuck.
—
If it's only stuck sometimes…it ain't actually stuck. There are absolutely times when mobility is the issue, and when that's the case, going faster doesn't change jack. You've all see that guy at the box. Working endlessly on trying to get under the bar faster despite the fact that he has the mobility of the tinman. Sorry, bro…you need more mobility, not more practice.
—
The flip side, and these are the fun ones, is when speeding through a movement pattern allows that person to perform it. Slow 'em down and suddenly things start breaking down. That, my friend, is an inconsistent dysfunction, which means we're looking at a stability/motor control issue. No stretching, smashing, or banded mobilizing required.
—
Now, I'm sure there might be a handful or observe examples that don't follow this rule, but 1 – don't generalize based on outliers, 2 – don't be THAT person, 3 – barring trauma or immobilization, loss of mobility is typically preceded by loss of stability somewhere else. Which means, your exception will still likely come back to a stability issue ??♂️.
