DM #576: Had @elpollo_hermano introduce me to the term ‘movement diet’ tonight while doing an IG Live with @docjenfit, and knew that I had to make it a DM. Movement diet…really though…so fantastic.

So, what the heck am I talking about? Google defines ‘diet’ as the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats. If we exchange the word ‘movement’ for ‘food' and ‘consumes’ for ‘eats', we immediately become aware of the implications of this phrase…and just how dope it is.
—
Long story short, what kind of movement are you performing on a daily basis? On a weekly basis? Monthly basis? What things do you like? What things do you avoid? What do you THINK is good for you? What do you think you should be doing more of? How much time do you devote to strength training versus mobility work versus recovery? Are you only working on one plane of movement? So. Many. Fun. Questions.
—
A nice point brought up by @docjenfit was that the word diet in and of itself should bring with it a sense of individuality, as no two people will need or benefit from the exact same diet. The same goes for movement. Yes, we should all seek quality movement, but what exactly that looks like for each person, and just how much of it needs to be performed will vary.

Tonight’s take home: Eat well. Move well. Live well.
