DM #591: Sheer poetry.

Came across this dope quote during a sneak peak reading of a blog post by this awesome human. Follow @mitchhauschildt for the full article to be dropped any day now. But, like I was saying, this quote is ? and something that I stay preaching about.

Something works for everyone. @primalstrengthdoc (you should also follow her, what can I say, I have smart friends ??♂️) and I were just having this very discussion tonight. Often times I will get questions along the lines of “what do you think of X treatment or Y paradigm?” If it’s something I’m familiar with then of course I’ll offer up my two pennies. But, if it’s something I have no idea about, I’ll say it, and then follow it up with something along the lines of: give it a shot and lemme know how it goes. What works the best for someone is simply what best speaks to THEIR nervous system.

Some folks like yoga, some like pilates, some like running, some like wresting, some like crossfit, some like hockey, some like painting, some like dancing…you see where I’m going here. We like what we like because it’s what best speaks to our nervous system. For some folks, quiet time makes them anxious, whereas that is exactly what other folks crave. I absolutely love the snowflake analogy that Jess used. It’s gentle, it’s got positive associations, and it really conveys this idea of endless individualized possibilities.

So, tonight’s take-home? Different strokes for different folks. There’s a reason that there are 29834739 different treatment models and techniques out there. Something works for everyone. Learn the concepts behind the techniques, appreciate the snowflake in front of you, proceed accordingly.
