DM #714: One exercise ain’t gonna cut it.

Got an awesome DM from one of you dope IG homies about teaching an old dog new tricks, and here are my two pennies.

First off, posture is dynamic. It’s transient. It’s changing. As such, my goal isn’t to stick you in a position and get you to stay there for the rest of forever. That in mind, posture is something that is a result of our experiences, our life, our interaction with the environment.
—
What does this mean? If we’re looking to ‘change’ that posture, one single ‘thing’ isn’t going to do it. One drill, one exercise, one piece of tape…you get where I’m going here. If you want to change something that has been formed by, and continues to be shaped by, your lifestyle…you gotta change your lifestyle.
—
The little things will add up. And that is how you will ultimately see change. Yes, doing some rows at the gym can help out. But, in all honesty, it’s what you’re doing the other 23 hours and 45 minutes of the day that will make the most difference. Posture is a habit. Don’t forget that.
