Real talk: I personally have benefited from systemic racism.
MOAR real talk: If I want things to change, I've got to start by doing the work on MYSELF. I've got to realize how I've benefited from the system, admit how I've played into the system, unpack the biases I currently hold hat will prevent change and forward progress, and then use my privilege to actually make a difference.
Why am I sharing this with you? Because something tells me you just might be in a similar situation. And if you're not, well, it never hurts to hear about the experiences of others. After all, the only way out is through, and the only way through is together.
