MOTM #226: Making the Unconscious, Conscious with Nic Strack

Monday, July 6th, 2020

Today I’m talking with my brand new friend, Nic Strack. And even though they don’t coach in the movement space, we all need to hear what they have to say. If you don’t already, you NEED to know this person.

Nic is a parenting coach who supports parents in making conscious choices and take a parent-centered approach. Nic says it perfectly: The relationship you have with your Self defines the relationship you have with your child.

I know, I know. You don’t come here for parenting advice. But I implore you, listen to this episode anyway. Nic's words apply to every single one of us, even if we don’t have kids. The core of what Nic teaches is how to be a better human. Besides, what is parenting anyways, if not coaching a tiny person on navigating the world in a healthy, productive way. We all ned that.

In This Episode You'll Hear:

  • A parent-centered approach to parenting
  • Motherhood and martyrdom
  • Engaging in conversation with your child
  • Your child is a person
  • Potty-teaching and the 4 stages of conditioning
  • Sustainability and capacity
  • The 5 C’s of bespoke parenting
  • Experiencing the full range of emotions in life
  • Making conscious choices
  • “The Golden Rule” and why it’s so reductive
  • Comments on social media
  • Curiosity and judgement cannot coexist
  • Showing your curiosity for the people you love
  • Start with noticing
