Stand before you walk. Walk before you run. First time actually working on handstand walking and this happened. I may or may not have some control issues and tend to want to always feel 100% in control of my movement. That in mind, I reached out to @garagegymgirl a few months ago for some remote gymnastics coaching to work on stationary handstands, as I realized a strong foundation but that would carryover into handstand walking. Spent about 8 months working on just kicking up, controlled falling, and holding in place. Low and behold, I got better at the foundations and the sexy stuff was that much easier to start playing with. A few helpful cues from @mw_burke and this happened. I know, point the toes, squeeze the butt, press through the floor. Progress, not perfection. Build the foundation before you paint the shutters.
If you're looking for gymnastics coaching ABSOLUTELY check out @garagegymgirl, and while you're at it peep @mw_burke's page for some super helpful training tips. Happy Friday, ya'll. #Maestrofied
