My boy @rehabredef dropped this bomb today and there was no way it wasn't making the DM. Head on over to his page to read his dope explanation, but here's my two pennies: If you don't know how to get lift stuff up from the ground, you're gonna hurt your back. It's as simple as that. Deadlifting is a fundamental movement pattern that every human being should own. Those of you with back pain when you bend over…you don't own it.

Now I'm not claiming to be any sort of professional power lifter or coach, but from a common sense (and biomechanical) point of view, approaching the deadlift as a push is pure brilliance…and will save your back. Push through the floor with your feet to get that bar up and watch the magic that happens.
