DM #378: ?…How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? ?

Feel like I said “function” about a million times in this DM, but I think it gets the point across. Had a pseudo discussion with someone the other night who was a member of Team Bash Crossfit and I couldn't help but think of this. Sure, a lot of stuff out there isn't functional (and in all honesty is just plain dumb) but there's also stuff out there that folks may not consider to be functional simply because they don't do very much throughout the day besides sit at their desk…or in their car…or on the train…or on the couch…or on the toilet ??‍♂️.

We were designed to do so much more physically than many of us are currently doing. Carrying heavy things, climbing trees, walking long distances, hunting, farming, and all that other good back-breaking stuff. To that end, some of the stuff is crossfit and other movement paradigms is TOTALLY functional, you just need to start functioning better.

So, standing on a BOSU with your eyes closed, juggling kettlebells, while balancing a Swiss ball on your head…not so functional. Carrying heavy ?, highly functional. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.
