DM #355: You either don't have the mobility, you lack the stability, a perhaps a little bit of both.

Why do your knees collapse in when you land? Why do your heels come up when you squat? Why does your shoulder shrug up when you do a pull-up, or your ribs flare out when you do anything overhead? There's always a reason. Figuring out is the fun part.

If you don't have the mobility to perform a movement, be it a true structural issue or just something you've lost over time, you will be forced to perform that movement in a different way. There's a roadblock and you've got to go around it. Simple as that.

Lack the stability or strength and you'll be physically unable to fight gravity and stay in a better position. You'll collapse and compensate because you're stronger there. The nervous system just wants to feel safe.

So, stop guessing and take the time to figure out what's going on. Address it. Get better. Oh and if you've got a mobility issue you'd better believe you've got an underlying stability issue. Things don't just lock up for no reason. ??‍♂️
