DM #342: When your foot hits the ground your knee experiences a valgus moment. Our boney architecture dictates it. The question is how well you control that moment.
—
When you jump, when you land, whenever gravity is acting on you, it's trying to pull you into that valgus moment. If you want to stay in better positioning, generate power in a more “ideal” position, maintain a position that is typically “safer”, those muscles gotta fire to control that movement.
—
So, as my dude @strengthcoachtherapy says, “Don't be the valgus police.” Your anatomy predisposes you to it. It's normal. The question is, can you control it, and how well.
