DM #341: When you work on new movement patterns, often times they feel super weird, especially if you've been moving like crap for quite some time. I always try to make it a point to give my patients exercises that they enjoy, as that will help with compliance, but sometimes the movements can be a little out there. ??♂️

The more I learn about the nervous system, pain science, and various movement concepts, the less traditional some of my drills can become, despite never becoming overly complex. And some of them may look weird…but that ? works.

So, while I try to give folks things that they enjoy doing, at the end of the day they may still feel that they look like an idiot. But guess what? They're gonna start moving much better. And once they start moving better and being able to do the things they love yet couldn't do before, suddenly they don't care so much about what other folks think.

Take home? If you move like the tin man, you already look crazy, and I guarantee that any drills aimed at improving your movement aren't going to make you look any crazier. ?
