DM #327: @drandreospina says it all the time, you can’t prevent injury, but you can prepare for it.

Now, first off, this is by no means a shot (no pun intended) at @activeliferx. I gots nothing against them and I commend them for putting out a product that addresses the glaring omissions found in typical CrossFit training. So, rock on, fellas.

As for the original message, simply trying to bring light to the fact that movement and exploration of one’s end ranges builds resiliency. However, this does not 100% prevent any chance of injury, but rather, decreases the likelihood of injury AND creates an environment that is just that much more ready to heal if/when injury occurs.

Why do I say this? Because people seem to think that they can bio-hack their way to invincibility with one exercise, one breathing drill, and some butter. Good start, yes, but far from comprehensive.

Let’s face it. Injury is part of being active. Yeah, it sucks, but it happens. The question is how resilient of a system have we created that will decrease the severity of the initial injury and also allow us to recover that much faster. How do we create this resiliency? Exposing ourselves to as much movement in as many environments and situations as possible. —
So, the take-home message: Move as much as possible. Explore every range possible. Seek resiliency…and know that if you get injured, it’s ok. You’ve been preparing for it.
