DM #424: Was having a little convo with my dude @strengthcoachtherapy the other day and he dropped this one on me. Couldn’t agree more.

If you’re not filming yourself, you’re missing out on some valuable info. (get your mind out of the gutter??♂️) I always promote the value of intrinsic awareness, however, you don’t know what you don’t know. What do I mean? Sometimes what you think you’re doing and what you’re actually doing are two very different things. You’ve adopted a way of moving, sitting, standing, etc, and that’s your baseline. Ask your body to adopt a new way of moving or a new posture, and often times without visual feedback, your brain doesn’t thinks it’s in that new position, simply because it’s not in the old position, even though it’s not in the new desired position at all.

Enough with the brain busters. All I’m saying is that if you’re trying to learn a new skill, change things up, whatever, film your ?! Mirrors are great (again, get your mind out of the gutter?), but filming will allow you to go back and review at any point in time, slow things down, focus on specific portions of the movement, etc.

Use that phone for more than just texting and Instagram. Your movement will thank you.
