Today we’re continuing my State of the Union series with the topic you all know and love by now: Coronavirus. (Sarcasm, in case you couldn’t tell).
Now, before you listen, I have a favor to ask of you: Be prepared to hear information you may not like, and that may make you uncomfortable. Try not to attack what you’re afraid of. Listen critically, and know that this information is being given to help, rather than to hurt, create panic, or instill fear.
Dr. Tyna Moore has had her own fair share of experiences with viruses, both personal and professional, starting with a near death experience as a teenage. Since then she has studied virology extensively, and I brought her on the podcast to share what she felt comfortable sharing.
A central talking point of this episode is the role of adipocytes and adipokines, aka fat, as they relates to the virus. Please let me be clear: This is NOT about fat shaming. Please, listen to the episode. Obesity is multifactorial, and Dr. Tyna emphatically asserts this while also presenting the science that she’s found. This is yet another instance of both/and.
Given the numerous factors at play, the reality is that COVID-19 is likely gonna be hanging around for a bit. So what can we do? Dr. Tyna knows in order to better protect ourselves from future viruses and major pandemics, we need to get our “health house” in check first.
My question for you: Is your house in order?
Tune in and let Dr. Tyna help you out.
Remember: The only way out is through, and the only way through is together.
